Hey folks! Long time no see! I'm sitting here with a tiny kitten (who apparently loves my keyboard) on my lap. I named her Persephone (Which means destroyer or bringer of death) and she and Nimmie are starting to get along. We adopted her on Christmas Eve and started her off in the Cat Kingdom (AKA the nice bathroom). She's a grey longhair, like Nims, but she has a little bit of brown in her, like tortoiseshell. I think one of the coolest things about her so far is that she's a lap cat. Also, be proud of me here for a sec, I made her her first vet appointment! She's feeling right at home with us now, and Nims barely hisses anymore when she comes up to him. We've agreed that she's the ultimate diva, and her anthem is Primadonna from Phantom.
It's warm out this December, which means reading outside for me! I just finished an interesting book called Witches, Sluts, Feminists: Conjuring the Sex Positive. I really liked it! In fact, I was thinking, I would love for that to be one of the first books my future daughters read about sex. While filled with taboo, this book aims at embracing the taboo and reclaiming it. The book deals mainly with witches and their connection to modern day sluts, how both are oppressed mainly on sexuality and their connection to the supernatural. Sex, in this book at least, is supernatural, a skill, a spell put on men and on oneself. But much more than sex, the book is about reclaiming the self and finding a special, utterly magical connection with the self. That is something I can get behind!
Anyhow, I digress, Christmas was sweet, a nice little break from all the hurry and scurry. One special thing we do on Christmas is to get pizza for Christmas Eve. I made an embroidery of the Baba Yaga house for Josephine, and a special scarf for mom as well as a myriad of other things for other people. What did y'all do?
